All You Need to Know about Single Tooth Implants
Are you missing a tooth? If so, you understand the hit to your self esteem when there is an empty space in your smile. Luckily, there is a treatment option that will restore all the self confidence that comes with a full toothed grin.
A dental implant is a permanent replacement for the root of a missing tooth. It is inserted into your jawbone, and over a period of a few weeks, it fuses with the bone, so that it becomes locked into place.
Placement of a dental implant involves two or three appointments. At the first appointment, the implant is placed under the gumline, in the bone of the jaw. Either at this appointment or at a subsequent one, an abutment is attached to the implant, which sticks up through the gumline. At a final appointment, once the implant is fused with the bone and the gum tissue heals around the abutment, a crown is attached to the end of the abutment, completing the implant.
A dental implant is the closest thing in dentistry to a natural tooth. Single dental implants are extremely strong and durable. In fact, they are designed to last a lifetime. Eat whatever you want with no restrictions. Brush and floss just as you would for a natural tooth. Smile and laugh with the complete confidence that no one will ever know they are not natural. There is simply nothing comparable in the dental world for a missing tooth.
